Join Dr. Geoffrey Leister, Extension Master Gardener Volunteer, as he discusses how you can plant your own rain garden. Rain gardens are a great way to combat flooding on your property and reduce polluted stormwater runoff.
This presentation will focus on the benefits of pollinator friendly rain gardens, how they function, and their design features. Since the Little Alamance Creek contributes stormwater run-off to the Cape Fear River Basin, any upstream filtration that would remove the ever-present pollutes would be beneficial to all downstream communities. The talk will focus on the planning, implementing, and planting process for selected native plants. Dr. Leister will cover residential rain gardens and in the recently installed Arbor Gate Rain Garden. This new rain garden is located at the Alamance County Center- be sure to check it out!
